  Do not use this Monument’s Liberty Tax office to file your taxes under any circumstances.
  
  My fiancé and I were scammed out of $230, received incompetent service, and my fiancé was harassed by the head of the Monument operation. I repeat, do not use this Liberty office under any circumstances.
  
  I recently moved to the Monument area, and decided to use this service as I had to file taxes in two separate states. I had already filed my federal taxes through an online service, but was unable to file taxes for two states over the internet. After calling the Monument Liberty Tax service over the phone, I was informed by an employee named Ron (the Monument office’s manager) that the service would cost around $300 for my fiancé and I. Considering that we both moved from out of state, I thought the price was more than reasonable.
  
  When we arrived at Liberty Tax, My fiancé and I gave Ron my information, and noticed that Liberty Tax had a “Send a Friend” deal that gave $50 to anyone who referred another person to the service. I asked Ron if I’d receive this discount since I referred my fiancé. He didn’t seem thrilled by the question, but said “he could work something out.” After looking over our information, Ron told my fiancé and I that we’d be able to receive the deal that we had discussed over the phone.
  
  When we returned the next day, Ron separated my fiancé and I to finish up our taxes. He explained that since I had already filed my federal taxes, that I’d be able to quickly fill out the information I needed to on my own. When separated, Ron aggressively went after my fiancé. He informed her he was charging her $540 for the service, and that she had no choice since he had already done the filing. When my fiancé hesitated, he told her he needed the payment “now” to move forward.
  
  When I finished my paperwork, I returned to where my fiancé was sitting and could tell something was very wrong. When I found out how much she was charged, I confronted Ron right away about the price. He denied ever promising the $300 charge over the phone and said we “weren’t eligible” for the $50 discount. When I accused him of scamming us out of the money, he promised to reimburse us $180, bringing our total to $360 overall.
  
  Though Ron made this promise, he has since not responded to our e-mails or calls, and has not refunded us the total he had promised. Furthermore, I discovered that Ron did not file my state taxes in the two states I requested, rendering the entire purpose I went to Liberty Tax useless. From the harassment and incompetent service my fiancé and I received, we highly recommend that no one use this service to file their taxes.
